For some reason I expected these cake pans to be heavier, but they are aluminum and very lightweight. They scratch relatively easily. The cakes baked up well and the variety of sizes was very helpful. Shipping was fast. I didn’t use the special baking coil in the center of the 10″, but it didn’t matter, it baked up just fine. I didn’t try out the 12″ yet. It was very helpful to have the number of cups needed for each pan plainly described on the packaging.

I bought this sports ball pan set to make a Saturn cake for an Astronomy class. When I received it, I was surprised at how small it was. Although it uses a whole cake mix, it will not feed a class of 25 students. I ended up buying the Wilton Soccer Ball Cake pan which was twice the size and it made a nice Saturn. I used the small sports ball pan set to make a moon of Saturn and the class loved both cakes!

I have just used these pans to bake a wedding cake and it turned out beautifully!! Everyone at the wedding couldn’t stop complimenting on the design of the cake. These pans work wonderfully because they are made of a thicker construction than other pans. This prevents them from burning the cake easily. Also, they are made of a very good quality aluminum which prevents them from rusting or chipping. Who wants a cake with chips of paint in it??? The cake baked in these pans was easy to decorate and stacked beautifully. So, for a different look in a wedding cake I would definitely recommend this cake pan set!!

The pans are very nice–great to make a professional cake with. They also arrived promptly. The only thing I might change is the number of petals–these are each 8 petal pans–I’ve seen more expensive pans with only 5 or 6 petals each. The reason I say this is because when you bake the smallest 8 petal cake, it is a little more difficult to retain the petal shape when frosting it.

I just made the cake yesterday, and it was GORGEOUS! I made some adjustments after reading some of the helpful reviews, however. I drilled small holes in the bottoms of the tiers so that I could insert wooden dowels. This made them more sturdy, and kept them upright in the cake. For the outside tiers, I used a glue gun to secure them to the cake round. The finished product looked just like the picture!

This cake was the hit of my daughter’s party! I would consider myself to be a VERY amateur cake decorator, but I had no problems producing great results with a few modifications to the instructions. Like one of the other reviewers, I drilled holes in the bottom of the towers to accommodate the dowels. This worked out great and they were very sturdy. I didn’t have to transport the cake anywhere, so icing worked out O.K. for the towers sitting directly on the cake board, but I would definitely recommend a hot glue gun if you’re going to be driving the cake anywhere. The finished product looked great, and several people have already asked me where they can buy the set. I know that I’ll be using mine again!
