Choosing Your Wedding Reception
Location:
There are two types of reception sites.
The first type charges a person fee which includes the facility, food, tables, silverwares and plates. Examples are hotels, restaurant and catered yachts. The advantage of this is that they will do everything for you but the disadvantage is that choices of food, china and linen are limited. Usually you are not permitted to bring outside food/beverages and must choose from their own menu. In either case, if they allow you, be prepared to pay a corkage fee. Beware because some the hotels are known for double booking. Also be careful of hotels that book events too close together. You don’t want to your guest to wait outside while the room is being set-up for the reception. Get your rental hours and the name of the room in writing.
The second type charges a room or rental fee and you are responsible for providing the food, beverages, linen and possibly tables and chairs. Examples of this are clubs, halls, parks, museums and private homes. The site should complement the formality of your ceremony. The selection of the site depends on its availability, price, proximity to the ceremony site and the number of people it will accommodate.
Some popular reception ideas:
Hotels and Restaurants
Country Club and Catering Halls
Inns or Bed-and-Breakfast Establishments
Botanical Gardens
Wineries
Mansions
When comparing the cost of the different locations, consider the rental fee, food, beverages, parking, gratuity, set-up charges and the cost of the rental equipment such as the tables, chairs and canopies. If you’re planning an outdoor reception make sure to have a backup site in the case of rain.
Music:
The reception music helps create the atmosphere of your wedding. It is the major part of your reception and should be planned carefully. When selecting music for your reception, consider the musical preference of your guests, your budget and the site. Hiring a DJ is less expensive than band and musicians.
If you want your musician to act as the master of ceremonies during the reception make sure he has a complete timeline for your reception and he knows when to announce the events such as first dance, toast, cutting of cake, tossing the bouquet and garter. If you want a large variety of music consider hiring a professional DJ. He can play any type of music and even offer a light show. Give him the list of the songs you want to play and the time for playing each song.
To save money it’s better to hire a band or a DJ directly. Hiring an entertainment agency will cost you more. You can ask some friends who can sing during the reception. You can also check the music department in college and universities and hire student musicians and DJ. It’s less expensive than hiring the professional musicians.
Food & Beverages:
It depends on what time your wedding will be. You can either have your reception mid morning or afternoon where you can serve light food like finger foods or cocktail food and wedding cake. In this case you will save more money in food and in beverage. But if you have the budget for a nice reception then you can have it for lunch or dinner. The most important in the reception is the wedding cake and beverage for toast.
Decorations:
You can consider having a theme for your reception. A Hawaiian theme or your honey destination is a great idea. It depends to what both of you like. Another alternative is to follow your wedding motif. If you book your reception in a hotel or restaurant you can ask them regarding the decorations. Some hotels and restaurant includes decoration in their package. If decorations is not included or your reception is held outside like in a garden. You can decorate using nice bouquets, balloons, candles, drapes. Use table cloth and napkins that will continue your colour scheme. Set it with nice candles and flowers.

Wedding Checklist – Choosing A Videographer
While wedding photographs have a reputation for capturing the precious moments of matrimony, snapshots pale in comparison to reliving the laughter heard during the best man toast, watching the cutting of the cake, and noticing the delicate sway of the bride’s dress. All of these lively, memorable flashes are delivered by a videographer, which can be rewound, fast-forwarded, and paused with the simple touch of a television remote. To make sure your memories are preserved with decency and satisfaction, it is important to choose a videographer who possesses both experience and creativity.
When it comes time to choosing a wedding videographer, you should consider the following suggestions:
· Samples Are Key: In order to make an effective decision on who will successfully produce a video illuminating the overall allure of a wedding, analyzing the previous work of a potential professional is essential. As you view samples, it is important to pay attention to clarity, quality of video, composition, as well as skill in shooting and editing.
· Know Your Video Formats: There is a wide range of video formats that a videographer may utilize when covering a wedding. To ensure the best quality and results, knowing the different types of options you may select from will help make a decision much easier. Today, the most commonly used approaches include VHS, S-VHS, and DV. VHS and S-VHS produces the lowest quality, while DV (also known as digital video) offers the best in quality, which can be repeatedly recopied without loss of features. For couples looking to receive video with the feel of a major motion picture, DV provides the best display of sound and video that comes in the form of a DVD.
· Don’t Let Fancy Equipment Distract You: Although name brand and flashy equipment is impressive when it comes to creating a video to your liking, if the videographer does not possess the skill, talent, or imagination to put the equipment to good use, it doesn’t matter. Simply looking at samples is not enough to ensure competency, ask for a short demonstration on what they can do with their equipment.
· Ask About Various Videotaping Methods: There are two main approaches towards videotaping a wedding. One option deals with multiple cameras that feed information onto one tape with instant editing (called live switching). The second technique involves multiple cameras that record on their own tape that allows a videographer to make edits within the comfort of his or her studio. It is the latter choice that videographers do not feel rushed to make on-the-spot decisions.
· Know the Setbacks Associated With Live Switching: Live switching requires a lot of equipment and wires, which may cause a distraction and physical obstacles with the multitude of cords running throughout a wedding scene. One person is responsible for watching all of the cameras on monitors that allows instant editing. This essentially makes a videographer’s job much easier, but for the consumer, it is a setback because fine-tuning and follow-up editing does not take place.
· Request the Highest Level of Sound Quality: Some videographers rely on the built-in mics that camcorders possess, which produces the worst sound quality. Wireless mics follow as another ineffective way to capture sound. The best way to enjoy clear and crisp dialogue, music, and other wedding sounds is to use small digital sound recorders that can be placed in a variety of locations, such as the groom’s pocket.
When it comes to creating a wedding memory that will stand the test of time, choosing the right videographer to meet your needs is vital. Overall, factors such as skill, talent, and creativity are quite important, but depending on your requirements and budget, you should also inquire about varying price packages, guarantees and liabilities, written contracts, additional charges, and the cost for multiple copies.

Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer Can be Easy, if You Choose the Right Wedding Photo Retouching Company
Your big day is approaching. You’ve spent months and thousands of dollars on planning the perfect wedding day. You’ve got the best spot in town for the ceremony, the best caterer and even the best cake designer in the area. There’s one crucial thing that a lot of people leave until the last minute that can make or break the wedding. Yes, it’s the wedding photographer.
How important is the photographer to your wedding? You might think you can get the cheapest photographer with a decent photographer out there, but be warned. In 30 years, you will not be able to wear your dress or your tuxedo. No one will remember the food or what color the chair covers were. The only thing you will have to really pass on from your wedding are the photos taken by your photographer. That’s why it’s important to get the best wedding photographer you can afford for your wedding photos.
However, there is a way you can save a considerable amount on your wedding photography and still have great photos. How? Simply choose a photo retouching company that can edit all of your photos as soon as you get them. You see, wedding photographers usually provide you with a disc of all your photos in digital form. If they don’t, then just ask them, as most will if you build it into your agreement up front.
After you’ve received your photos, just go to a wedding photo retouching company, like us, FixUpPix.com. No doubt, even the best photographers take photos that can use some help. We see those photos everyday at FixUpPix.com. You may have a photo that is perfect except for one person standing in the background. Or the best photo of the bride may capture the groom squinting his eyes. This photo would be ruined if it weren’t for wedding photo retouching. A photo retoucher can fix all of these issues, as well as generally enhance the color and beauty of each of your photos. Most will even give you a package price if you have multiple photos. You will find that the price of fixing your wedding photos is often far cheaper than hiring the best wedding photographer, and you know with retouching you will get the results you want.
